Nicholas Blake "Nick" Conner, a 24-year-old male from South Boston, Virginia, tragically lost his life on December 18, 2019, in Henderson, North Carolina. Conner, who was born on October 27, 1995, in Halifax County, Virginia, was a graduate of Halifax County High School and Longwood University. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and was known for his active involvement in his community. On the day of his death, Conner had traveled to Henderson to purchase a cellphone. His body was discovered in a crashed vehicle on Mansfield Lane, near Henderson. Medics and firefighters at the scene found that Conner had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead at Maria Parham Hospital in Henderson.

The investigation into Conner's death led to the arrest of four suspects, all between the ages of 19 and 23. Damarous Magbie, 23, Demetris Miller, 23, and Latimor Drumgold, 23, all from Henderson, along with Neajsia Jones, 19, from Warrenton, were charged with felony murder and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon. Magbie was additionally charged with discharging a weapon into an occupied moving vehicle. The suspects were held without bond, with court dates pending. Authorities have not provided a clear motive for the homicide, but it is believed that Conner was shot while in his vehicle, which then crashed into the edge of a woodline.

The Vance County Sheriff's Office, with assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, conducted a thorough investigation into the case. Conner's family has expressed their grief and loss, remembering him as a beloved son, brother, and friend. The funeral service for Nicholas Blake "Nick" Conner was held at Bethel Baptist Church, where he was laid to rest in the church cemetery. The community continues to mourn the loss of a young man whose life was cut short by a senseless act of violence.
