On January 6, 2024, 47-year-old Juan Black of Louisburg, North Carolina, was found deceased from apparent gunshot wounds inside a residence at 1064 Abbott Road, Henderson. The Vance County Sheriff's Office responded to a welfare check at the home around 4:30 p.m., discovering three individuals dead: Danielle Williams, 49, and her son, Tre’von Hargrove, 25, both residents of the address, along with Black.
Family members had requested the welfare check after being unable to contact the occupants. Upon arrival, deputies found the door unlocked but obstructed by a body. Inside, they discovered the victims, each with fatal gunshot wounds. Sylvia Black, Juan's mother, recounted the harrowing experience of finding her son and the close relationship between the families.

The Vance County Sheriff's Office, with assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, is conducting an ongoing investigation.
