Tristan Edward Crump, a 33-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on February 8, 2020, in Albemarle, North Carolina. He was found shot in the yard of a home on Henry Jay Street. Despite being transported to Atrium Health Stanly for treatment, he succumbed to his injuries. The Albemarle Police Department launched an investigation into his death, seeking to piece together the events of that fateful night.
The investigation led to significant developments, including the arrest of two suspects. In March 2020, Donte Jamal Langhorne-Hagins, a 25-year-old male from Hampton, Virginia, was apprehended and charged with first-degree murder and felony conspiracy in connection with Crump's death. Langhorne-Hagins was extradited to North Carolina and held without bond. Subsequently, in May 2020, Devaunte Daiquon Collins, a 27-year-old male from Badin, North Carolina, was also arrested and charged with felony murder and felony conspiracy to commit murder. Collins was taken into custody without incident and placed in the Stanly County Jail under a bond.
