Daryl Jamichael Price, a 29-year-old African American male, was reported missing from the Ellenboro area on November 20, 2020. The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office initiated a homicide investigation after receiving a tip that Delarrio Laquone Goode had shot Price. The investigation revealed that Goode planned to rob Price during a drug deal. During the robbery, Goode shot Price, who died from the gunshot wound.
Price's body was carried in a car for a day before Goode dumped it in a secluded area. Goode then fled to Georgia, where he was later apprehended by the Cobb County Police Department.
The investigation further uncovered that on November 21, around 3 a.m., deputies responded to a report of an assault on a female victim, Taylor Weaver, at the Econo Lodge in Forest City. Weaver reported that she had been assaulted and was transported to Rutherford Regional Medical Center for treatment. At the hospital, Weaver informed the sheriff's office Criminal Investigation Division that Price had been shot at a home in Ellenboro and that her vehicle had been stolen. Detectives learned that Goode had shot Price and that both Weaver and another suspect, Lakelia Ann Dickey, loaded Price into Weaver's car to transport him to Atrium Health System Hospital in Cleveland County. However, Dickey drove to a field in Cleveland County and disposed of Price's body. Following this, Weaver jumped from the car and tried to find help.
Afterward, suspects Dickey and Goode reconvened, along with an individual named Destiny Murray, and returned to the location of Price's body. His body was then moved back into the stolen vehicle. A few days after Goode's arrest, investigators found Price's body in a secluded area in the northwest section of Rutherford County.
On December 5, 2023, after a week and a half trial, a jury convicted Goode, 37, of first-degree murder. Goode was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
