Stephon Chamis McEachin, a 32-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on April 29, 2021, in Laurinburg, North Carolina. According to reports, McEachin was involved in an altercation at a residence on Isabelle Street. The incident occurred late Thursday night, and upon arrival, officers were met by a woman who claimed that her ex-boyfriend, McEachin, had come over to her residence.
The woman informed the officers that McEachin and her current boyfriend, 29-year-old Kristopher Williams, had gotten into a confrontation. Officers found broken glass from the front door and entered the residence, where they discovered McEachin lying on the living room floor with an apparent gunshot wound. McEachin was pronounced dead at the scene. Williams was detained by officers, but no charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.
This incident marked the first homicide within the city limits of Laurinburg in 2021 and the second homicide in Scotland County that year. The investigation into McEachin's death is still active, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Laurinburg Police Department.
