On August 11, 2021, more than a year after the incident, 21-year-old Christopher Flood was arrested in Wilmington, North Carolina, and charged with the murder of Tavarus Taybron. Detectives issued warrants for Flood's arrest, and he was subsequently transferred to Mecklenburg County to face the charges. The CMPD Homicide Unit continued to investigate the case, seeking additional information from the public.
