Thomas Liebel, a 33-year-old male from Forest City, North Carolina, was found deceased on July 27, 2021, as a result of a gunshot wound. The incident occurred at 150 Candy Turf Lane, where deputies from the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting report. Upon arrival, they discovered Liebel's body, and an investigation was promptly initiated by the detectives.
The investigation led to the identification of Andrew Franklin Hodge as the primary suspect.
Hodge was charged with felony murder and shooting into an occupied dwelling. Following the issuance of warrants, Hodge was apprehended in Florida and subsequently extradited to Rutherford County to face his charges. He was held without bond for the murder charge, with an additional bond set for the remaining warrants.
