Deykwon Lavente Gilmore, an 18-year-old Black male from Burlington, North Carolina, tragically lost his life on September 28, 2021. His body was discovered near the railroad tracks on Railroad Street in Burlington. Initially, detectives believed that Gilmore had been shot and killed, but the immediate cause of death was still under investigation at the time. The incident was being treated as a homicide, and the Burlington Police Department urged anyone with information to come forward.
