On the morning of March 6, 2025, 23-year-old African American male Donald Damarri Long was found fatally shot in a vehicle parked outside the JR Cigar Outlet on Eric Lane in Burlington, North Carolina. Police responded to a call at 8:54 a.m. and discovered Long deceased at the scene from a gunshot wound.
The suspect, 21-year-old African American female Raquel Monay Strudwick, was present at the scene when officers arrived and was taken into custody without incident.
Investigators determined that Strudwick and Long were in a domestic relationship. Strudwick was charged with first-degree murder and is being held at the Alamance County Jail without bond.
Donald Damarri Long, born on April 19, 2001, in Burlington, was remembered by family and friends as a gentle and loving individual. Known affectionately as "Marri," he had a warm smile and a caring nature. He was employed at JR Cigars and had previously worked as a security officer and at Dollar General, where he advanced to a management position. Long was an avid fan of the North Carolina Tar Heels and Pittsburgh Steelers, and he enjoyed rap music and dancing.
