Sarah Hankerson, a 72-year-old African American woman, tragically passed away on May 8, 2022, in Rocky Mount, NC. Her death was the result of an unintentional shooting incident. On that fateful day, the Rocky Mount Police Department responded to a shooting call at a residence on Meadowbrook Road. Upon arrival, they found Sarah Hankerson experiencing a medical emergency. Despite the life-saving measures attempted by first responders, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
