Robert Peterson, a 76-year-old African American man, was found dead in his home on Detroit’s east side on May 17, 2016. Concerned friends and a former roommate, who had not been able to reach him, entered his residence on the 19000 block of Albion using a spare key. Inside his bedroom, they discovered Peterson’s lifeless body. He had suffered gunshot wounds to his chest and hand. Authorities were called to the scene, and an investigation into his death began.
