In the pre-dawn hours of January 25, 1989, a dedicated public servant's life was tragically cut short in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. Curtis William Denton Jr., a 44-year-old Caucasian male, had served his community for 23 years as a Lieutenant with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. A veteran of the United States Navy who had served in the Vietnam War, Denton was a man committed to upholding the law, a commitment that would ultimately cost him his life.
