In the late hours of a Wednesday evening in Abbeville, Louisiana, the community was unknowingly on the brink of a tragedy that would claim the life of one of its own. Patrolling the streets at 11:40 p.m. on December 23, 1992, was Patrolman First Class John Mark 'Dooley' Hardy, a 28-year-old officer with two and a half years of service with the Abbeville Police Department.
