On February 8, 2024, 19-year-old Dylan Michael Walker of New Iberia, Louisiana, succumbed to gunshot wounds following a shooting incident in Abbeville. The Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office received a call around 8:44 p.m. regarding a possible shooting on Robie Circle in Abbeville. The caller reported that a vehicle had departed the area, possibly with a victim, and later stopped at the Circle K convenience store on the LA Hwy. 14 By-pass, where an Acadian Ambulance unit was located.
