Dylan Michael Walker, a 19-year-old White / Caucasian man from New Iberia, Louisiana, was known to friends as "dyl" or "trapstardee." Those who knew him remembered a funny, loving, and charismatic young man. His life was cut short on a Thursday evening in the winter of 2024.
On February 8, 2024, at approximately 8:44 p.m., the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office received a call about a possible shooting on Robie Circle in Abbeville.
A vehicle carrying Dylan left the scene and later stopped at a Circle K convenience store on the Louisiana Highway 14 Bypass. An Acadian Ambulance unit was already at the location, and medical personnel immediately began to render aid. They transported Dylan to a local hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his gunshot wounds.
Detectives with the sheriff's office launched an investigation that quickly led to an arrest. A 16-year-old male from Abbeville was taken into custody and charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of armed robbery. Authorities noted that at the time of the shooting, the juvenile was wearing an ankle monitor. This was a condition of his release after he had pleaded guilty in December 2023 to six charges related to numerous burglaries, felony thefts, and illegal possession of stolen goods, which included firearms.
The investigation continued, and on February 20, 2024, a second suspect was arrested. This individual was also a 16-year-old juvenile and was arrested on warrants for first-degree murder and armed robbery. He was held in the Lafayette Juvenile Detention Center without bond and had a prior criminal history of illegal possession of stolen goods. Subsequently, one of the suspects, Zylon Zenon, was convicted of first-degree murder and armed robbery for his role in Dylan Walker's death.
