Melvin DeJesus Jr., a 17-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on December 25, 1996, in Harvey, Louisiana. He was fatally shot while standing in the parking lot of Metro Mart on Manhattan Blvd. He was speaking to an unknown male when the incident occurred, and despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
