In the late summer of 2016, a violent encounter in Harvey, Louisiana, claimed the life of 37-year-old Brian Rodrigue. The male victim was found inside a silver car that had crashed into a garage in the 2500 block of Brataria Boulevard on the evening of August 15th. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.
Investigations by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office quickly led to the identification of two suspects, a father and son duo, Wayne Joseph, 42, and his son, Tyrus Joseph,
who was 17 at the time. According to authorities, the incident stemmed from a dispute that began earlier in the day. An ongoing feud between Tyrus Joseph and another individual escalated, leading to a physical altercation involving Brian Rodrigue, who was an acquaintance of the person arguing with the younger Joseph.
Following the initial fight, Tyrus Joseph reportedly left the scene and returned with his father, Wayne Joseph. It was then that the elder Joseph allegedly instigated the fatal act, telling his son to 'handle his business' and ordering him to shoot Rodrigue. Tyrus Joseph is accused of firing a handgun, striking Rodrigue. After being shot, Rodrigue attempted to flee in his vehicle but succumbed to his injuries, leading to the crash where he was discovered.
Both father and son were apprehended shortly after the incident. Wayne Joseph was charged with principal to second-degree murder, while Tyrus Joseph faced a charge of second-degree murder. The case highlighted a tragic escalation of a personal dispute into a fatal act of violence, cutting short the life of Brian Rodrigue.
