On a spring evening in Alexandria, Louisiana, the life of DelRico Lamont Anderson, a 23-year-old Black male, was cut tragically short. On March 13, 2006, while driving down Third Street, a vehicle pulled alongside his, and the sound of gunfire shattered the night. Anderson was struck by the hail of bullets and fatally wounded in the driver's seat of his car.
In the wake of the violence, the community was left with questions and a family was left to grieve.
Anderson was survived by his daughter, Le'Asia, his father, Bennie, and a large loving family of eight sisters and seven brothers. Funeral services were held at the Greater Grace Temple, where friends and family gathered to mourn the sudden and violent loss of a young man's life.
The investigation into DelRico Lamont Anderson's murder was launched by the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office. Despite their efforts and appeals to the public for any information that could lead to a breakthrough, the case has grown cold over the years. To this day, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with his death.
