Deputy Sheriff Yvonne D. Pettit, aged 45, was tragically shot and killed on December 4, 2006, while on duty with the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office in Louisiana. She was fatally wounded by her estranged husband, who ambushed her and her partner with an AK-47 rifle. She was killed on December 4, 2006 when she was shot by her estranged husband while on duty. The suspect had located her and her partner and opened fire with an AK-47 rifle.
