In the early morning hours of Sunday, April 8, 2007, the life of Otis Lee Fleming Sr. was tragically cut short in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The 50-year-old African American man, a resident of the city, was killed by an act of gun violence. At the time of his death, Fleming was a landscaper for Francise Horticulture Service.
Otis Lee Fleming Sr. was a family man, survived by his wife, Krystal A. Fleming, and their five sons: Otis Jr., Demarcus, Brandon, Chadwick, and Gainer.
He also left behind a large extended family, including four sisters and seven brothers. His parents, Sam and Lucy Fleming, and a brother, Harry Fleming, had preceded him in death. A funeral service was held in his honor the following Saturday at the Promised Land Baptist Church, and he was later interred at Thomas Chapel Cemetery in Baker.
Despite the passage of time, the circumstances surrounding Otis Fleming's death remain shrouded in mystery. Law enforcement has not publicly identified any suspects in connection with his murder.
