In the early morning hours of September 25, 2022, a party in Odenton, Maryland, turned deadly, leaving 38-year-old Alexander Leon Gray Jr. of Glen Burnie fatally wounded. The male victim was attending a large gathering advertised to last from midnight until 5:00 a.m. at a business located in the basement of a commercial building at 1588 Annapolis Road.
At approximately 2:30 a.m., Anne Arundel County Police were dispatched to the location following reports of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, they were met with a chaotic scene of 60 to 70 people exiting the establishment and scattering throughout the parking lot and onto Annapolis Road. The crowd was uncooperative and actively prevented officers from entering the business and rendering aid to the victims of the shooting.
When reinforcements arrived, officers had to form a line and push the crowd back to allow the Fire Department to reach the injured. Inside the doorway of the business, they found Alexander Leon Gray Jr., who was pronounced deceased at the scene. Another male victim, a 30-year-old from Glen Burnie, was found injured in the parking lot and was transported to a trauma center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Homicide detectives from the Anne Arundel County Police Department are handling the ongoing investigation. Authorities have stated that they believe the shooting was a targeted attack and not a random act of violence. Despite the number of potential witnesses at the party, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder, and police have not publicly identified any suspects. Investigators have continued to ask for the public's help, encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
