Chauncy Terrell Smith, Sr., a 30-year-old African American man from New Orleans, Louisiana, tragically lost his life on August 13, 2007. He was shot and killed at around 10:45 PM at the corner of St. Philip and North Villere Streets in the Treme neighborhood. Smith was one of two men killed when gunmen opened fire on a group of more than 25 people who were leaving an indoor basketball court at Armstrong Park.
