In the spring of 2009, the life of a young Baton Rouge man was cut short in a burst of violence that would later be tied to a larger web of crime. Twenty-year-old Marcus 'Gangsta' Thomas, an African American male, was fatally shot on April 25, 2009, while driving his car in what investigators determined was an ambush-style attack.
