On the morning of July 21, 1982, Louisiana State Trooper Damon L. Robichaux was at his home in Baton Rouge when he was recalled to duty for an escort assignment. As he was preparing to leave, his revolver accidentally fell to the floor. The impact caused the weapon to discharge, and a single bullet struck the 30-year-old male trooper in the chest.

Emergency medical attention was rendered, and Trooper Robichaux was rushed into surgery. Despite the efforts of the medical team, he succumbed ...
