On the morning of July 21, 1982, Trooper Damon Lyle Robichaux, aged 30, was accidentally shot and killed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Robichaux, who had been a Trooper with the Louisiana State Police for over four years, was recalled to duty to provide an escort. As he was leaving his home, his revolver fell to the floor and discharged, striking him in the chest. Despite undergoing surgery, he tragically passed away approximately two hours later.
