Faibvre was targeted because he was believed to be an associate of a rival gang from the Desire Housing Project.
The investigation into Faibvre's murder led to the identification of several
suspects associated with the 39ers gang. Ashton Price, also known as 'Pound,' Alonzo Peters, known as 'Woo-dee,' Jasmine Perry, who went by 'J-Real' or 'Rell,' and Gregory Stewart were named as the individuals who shot and killed Faibvre. This act was part of a larger pattern of violence that included multiple murders and assaults committed by the gang to maintain control and intimidate rivals.
The subsequent legal proceedings brought the perpetrators to justice. In a federal trial focused on the racketeering activities of the 39ers, a jury found both Jasmine Perry and Ashton Price guilty in connection with the murder of Kendall Faibvre. Alonzo Peters was acquitted of the murder charge. For their roles in the murder and other gang-related crimes, both Perry and Price received mandatory sentences of life imprisonment.
