In the spring of 2010, the life of Rene Remy Shields, a 28-year-old Black/African American man from New Orleans, Louisiana, was tragically cut short. On the evening of Tuesday, April 13, 2010, Shields was fatally shot in the Central City neighborhood of New Orleans. The incident left a void in the lives of his family and friends, who remembered him as a beloved son, grandson, and father.
