In a quiet Hammond, Louisiana neighborhood, the morning of February 14, 2013, was shattered by a tragic act of violence that claimed the life of 67-year-old Laurent Edouard Lafargue. A man known for his active involvement in the First United Methodist Church and the Hammond Community Theatre, his life was abruptly ended in his home on Rue Cannes. from the person responsible.
The suspect in this harrowing incident was none other than the victim's own son, 30-year-old Robert Lafargue. In a chilling 911 call, Robert informed the operator that he had just shot his father. Responding officers arrived at the residence to a scene of calm surrender. Robert Lafargue emerged from the house and gave himself up to the patrol officers without any resistance. Inside, authorities discovered Laurent Lafargue in his bedroom, having succumbed to a fatal gunshot wound.
