On May 6, 2023, Paul Holt, a 62-year-old resident of Arkansas, was fatally shot in Hammond, Louisiana, during a carjacking incident. Holt and his wife had traveled to Louisiana to celebrate his upcoming 63rd birthday. The incident occurred in the parking lot of the Red Roof Plus on Puma Drive in Hammond, where the couple was staying.
