Stephen Vance, a 25-year-old male, was tragically killed on November 25, 2016, in Hammond, Louisiana. On that Friday morning, he was found lying in the street on Rue Cannes in the Villa West subdivision with multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries. The investigation into his death revealed that the motive behind the violent act was a carjacking.
In the wake of the homicide, a thorough investigation was launched by the
Hammond Police Department, in conjunction with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office. Their collaborative efforts led to the apprehension of five individuals connected to the case. Among those taken into custody were 18-year-old Jordan Cyprian and 18-year-old Eric Newman, along with an unnamed juvenile. These three suspects faced serious charges, including first-degree murder, armed robbery, and obstruction of justice. Two other individuals, 19-year-old Sabrina Kemp and 18-year-old Jamonte Felder, were also arrested on charges of obstruction of justice for their alleged roles in the aftermath of the crime. Following the death of Stephen Vance, his family pursued legal action against several individuals and public officials.
