In the spring of 2014, the life of 49-year-old Sandy George, a Black/African American woman from New Orleans, was tragically cut short. On the afternoon of March 13th, violence erupted near the intersection of Foucher and South Saratoga streets, resulting in a triple shooting. George was found inside a house with a gunshot wound to her body. Another victim, 19-year-old Rinalda Variste, was discovered on the ground outside, having been shot in the head.
An 18-year-old male was also injured in the incident.
Sandy George was rushed to the hospital, but tragically, she succumbed to her injuries a few days later on March 16, 2014. Rinalda Variste also died from her wounds.
