James N. Stephens, a 31-year-old male from Leesville, Louisiana, was reported missing on March 29, 2014. His remains were discovered in July 2014 near a highway in Vernon Parish. The discovery was made by the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office in collaboration with the Klaas Kids Foundation Search Team. The remains were sent to the FACES Laboratory at LSU for identification. Stephens' death was ruled a homicide, and the investigation led to multiple arrests.
