In the early morning hours of February 9, 2025, a dispute in a parking lot in Leesville, Louisiana, ended in tragedy, claiming the life of 30-year-old Trevon Devante Hairston, an African American male. The incident occurred just after midnight outside the Legacy Grooming Lounge on South Fifth Street, where an argument escalated into gunfire. When the shooting ceased, three individuals had been struck.
Hairston sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The two other victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment of their gunshot wounds. The man authorities believe to be responsible for the shooting fled the scene immediately after the incident.
Later that same day, 22-year-old Jamel Weaver of Leesville turned himself into the Leesville Police Department. Following his surrender, Weaver was arrested and is facing multiple charges, including Second Degree Murder, Attempted Second Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery, Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, and Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instruments.
The investigation into the shooting that claimed Trevon Hairston's life remains active. Law enforcement officials have appealed to the public for any information or video footage from the area around the time of the altercation and shooting. Hairston, born in Shreveport, Louisiana, on November 11, 1994, was remembered as a son, husband, father, brother, and friend.
