Blake J. Helmer, a 55-year-old white male, was tragically killed on April 29, 2014, in Gretna, Louisiana. Helmer, a longtime cab driver for Glenn's Cab Company, was shot multiple times during an armed robbery while waiting for customers at the corner of Franklin and Rupp streets. The incident left the close-knit community on the West Bank in shock and mourning.
