On a warm spring evening in New Orleans, the joyous sounds of a high school graduation party in the Gentilly neighborhood were shattered by gunfire, leaving a promising young life cut short. Tremaine Robertson, a 15-year-old African American male, was tragically killed on May 23, 2014, in a senseless act of violence that also left seven others wounded. The celebration, held in the 6200 block of Eads Street, turned into a scene of chaos and sorrow when shots rang out just before 11:30 p.m.
