Javonta Broden, a 23-year-old African American male, was found dead inside his cell at Elayn Hunt Correctional Center on September 15, 2024. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, but it has been confirmed that the Louisiana Department of Corrections and Iberville Parish Sheriff’s deputies are actively investigating the incident. Possible criminal charges are pending as authorities continue to probe the case.
