Demetri Phillips, a 21-year-old African American male, was found dead in the driver's seat of a vehicle parked outside his family's house on North 24th Street in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on April 22, 2020. Phillips sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. The area where Phillips was found has been plagued with gun violence in recent years, and his death added to the growing list of homicides in the neighborhood.
