In the quiet hours of an April evening in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a young man's life was cut short, leaving behind a family to grieve and a community searching for answers. On the night of April 22, 2020, 21-year-old Demetri Phillips was discovered in the driver's seat of a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence on North 24th Street. He had sustained apparent gunshot injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
