Deputy U.S. Marshal Josie Lamar Wells, aged 27, was shot and killed on March 10, 2015, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Wells was a member of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and was attempting to serve an arrest warrant on a double-murder suspect at the Elm Grove Motel. During the operation, shots were exchanged between the task force and the suspect, and Wells was struck.
