On September 26, 2023, at approximately 3 a.m., deputies responded to a reported shooting at a residence on the 3200 block of Mario Drive in Verdi, near Reno, Nevada. Upon arrival, they found 51-year-old James Morais suffering from multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
