Anthony Washington, 44, was a Black man who was killed in the early morning hours of October 12, 2015, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Before dawn had fully settled into the neighborhood, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to a “shots fired” call in the 1500 block of Clover Street. When they arrived, they found Washington suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.
Shreveport Fire Department EMS pronounced him dead at the scene, turning an urgent call into a homicide investigation almost immediately.
As detectives began piecing together what happened, preliminary information pointed to a confrontation that had escalated into gunfire. Investigators indicated that Washington was shot by someone who came to his residence and began firing a weapon, suggesting the violence was not random but directed—an arrival, a decision, and then the sound of shots on Clover Street. A week later, on Monday, October 19, Shreveport Police made an arrest. Violent Crimes detectives located Rodney Robinson, 28, and took him into custody without incident just before noon. Robinson was booked on a charge of second degree murder, and his bond was set at $250,000.
