In the fading daylight of December 7, 2015, a burst of violence on a canal bank in Harvey, Louisiana, tragically cut short the life of 17-year-old Sidney Landry. The young man, a male Caucasian, was shot near Tallow Tree Lane and 21st Street in his hometown. Despite his grave injuries, he managed to flee the scene, running a short distance before collapsing on the front porch of a home in the 1200 block of 21st Street in the neighboring community of Gretna.
It was there that he succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead.
When deputies from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office arrived, they discovered several spent shell casings on the canal bank that serves as a dividing line between Harvey and Gretna. The physical evidence marked the spot where the fatal encounter occurred, but the identity of the person who pulled the trigger remained a mystery. Investigators canvassed the area and collected what they could from the scene, initiating a homicide investigation into the teenager's death.
