On a Christmas Eve in Harvey, Louisiana, a family argument turned deadly, leaving one brother dead and another facing a murder charge. The victim was identified as 52-year-old Kevin 'Bo' Turner, a resident of Harvey. The tragic events unfolded on December 24, 2016, inside a home on Brown Avenue, forever altering the lives of a family.
According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, Kevin Turner and his 44-year-old brother, Terrence Smith, were engaged in a heated argument.
The dispute escalated tragically when Smith produced a handgun and fired a single shot, striking Turner in the chest. Witnesses reported seeing Smith flee the scene, running through a nearby vacant lot after the shooting.
Law enforcement was quickly alerted, and deputies were able to locate and apprehend Terrence Smith in the 500 block of 5th Avenue. During questioning, Smith confessed to shooting his brother. He was subsequently arrested and booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center on one count of second-degree murder. An obituary for Kevin Turner later listed Terrance J. Smith as one of his brothers.
