In the pre-dawn hours of January 26, 2016, the quiet streets of New Orleans' Holy Cross neighborhood were broken by the urgent sounds of a police raid. A team of officers, part of a Drug Enforcement Administration task force, was executing a warrant at a home on Douglas Street. Among them was Stephen Christopher Arnold, a 35-year-old male detective with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. Known for his bravery and dedication, Arnold was the first to enter the residence.
