In the spring of 2024, a wave of violence struck a New Orleans community, claiming the life of 17-year-old Rickey Hamilton. On the afternoon of April 27th, the young man was inside a vehicle at the intersection of Freret and Sixth Streets. He was not alone; a young boy was also in the car with him. In a sudden burst of gunfire, unknown assailants opened fire on their vehicle. Both Rickey and the child were struck by the bullets.
