A 27-year-old male from Slidell, Cordaryle Robert, was killed on June 25, 2016, after being lured into what he believed was a date. The plan, orchestrated by Terrance Calloway and his wife Dana Lemar, was initially intended to be a robbery. Lemar connected with Robert on Facebook and arranged to meet him at the Boomtown Casino in Harvey. After meeting, Lemar and Robert drove around New Orleans before she told him they needed to return to the Harvey casino because her aunt's vehicle had broken
down.
Upon arriving at the staged breakdown scene on Peters Road, Robert got out of his vehicle to help. It was at this point that Calloway emerged and shot Robert in the face. Robert’s body was left in a roadside drainage ditch. After the shooting, Calloway took Robert's 2003 Cadillac Escalade. He drove it to a sugarcane field near Thibodaux, where he stripped it of its tires and rims before setting it on fire. Robert's body was discovered nearly a week after he was reported missing.
Both Terrance Calloway and Dana Lemar were arrested in Houma and charged with second-degree murder and obstruction of justice. In a plea deal for her cooperation, Lemar pleaded guilty to manslaughter and received a 25-year prison sentence. She testified that she was not aware her husband intended to kill Robert. A jury found Terrance Calloway guilty of second-degree murder and obstruction of justice. He was subsequently sentenced to life in prison plus an additional 40 years.
