On the afternoon of October 14, 2016, a burst of gunfire shattered the ordinary flow of traffic on Interstate 49 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Tadarien 'Scooter' Summage, a 28-year-old male, was driving his vehicle near the Kings Highway exit when another car pulled alongside him. Without warning, shots were fired from the other vehicle, striking Summage in the head and killing him at the scene.
The brazen daylight shooting also left another man in Summage's car, 27-year-old Orlando Powell,
with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. In the immediate aftermath, law enforcement began their investigation, piecing together the chaotic events that had unfolded on the busy interstate.
Preliminary information suggested that the shots came from a white Chevrolet or GMC pickup truck with tinted windows. It was also believed that two or more other unidentified male occupants were in Summage's vehicle at the time of the shooting and fled before police arrived. Despite these early leads, authorities did not immediately identify any suspects in the fatal shooting. The motive for the attack remained unclear as investigators worked to uncover the circumstances that led to the deadly encounter on the highway.
