On February 14, 2017, Marcus Holmes, a 22-year-old African American male from Laplace, Louisiana, was fatally shot in the Glen Oaks area of Baton Rouge. Deputies from the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting around 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of Maplewood Drive and Matthews Street. Upon arrival, they discovered Marcus Holmes deceased at the scene.
