In the late afternoon hours of a Thursday in New Orleans, 18-year-old Jawuan Manning was fatally wounded in a brazen triple shooting. The incident unfolded on February 23, 2017, at the intersection of Earhart Boulevard and Dante Street.
Manning was inside a maroon four-door vehicle when a black SUV reportedly pulled alongside. Two individuals exited the SUV and opened fire on Manning's car before fleeing the scene.
The gunfire erupted at approximately 3:42 p.m., a time when the area would have been busy with afternoon traffic. When first responders arrived, they found Manning inside the bullet-riddled car. He was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds.
Two other men were also injured in the attack. They were found inside a nearby auto parts store and were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The New Orleans Police Department launched a homicide investigation into the shooting.
