Devan Smith, a 25-year-old Black/African American man, was fatally shot on Friday, July 21, 2017, in New Orleans, Louisiana. The incident occurred in the 14700 block of Chef Menteur Highway in New Orleans East.

In September 2017, authorities arrested a suspect in connection with the homicide. Curtis Stewart, who was 23 years old at the time, was taken into custody in Baton Rouge. He was wanted on a warrant for second-degree murder in the death of Devan Smith.
