On a summer day in Phoenix, Arizona, the lives of three young people were brought to a violent and tragic end. On July 15, 1999, AnnMarie Merchant, a young woman, was brutally murdered in her apartment. She was not the only victim of the horrific events that unfolded that day. Her brother, 17-year-old Roscoe Anthony Merchant Jr., and her girlfriend, Cindy Richards, were also killed. The crime was particularly savage, leaving a lasting scar on the community and the families of the victims.
