In the summer of 2017, a dispute in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, tragically cut short the life of 44-year-old Rodney Lee. On the afternoon of Friday, July 28th, in the Valley Park area, an argument escalated to violence, resulting in Lee being fatally shot. The incident, which also involved the shooting of a dog that ultimately survived, took place in the 4600 block of Aldrich Drive.
The man identified as the suspected shooter, Jason Paul Pitcher, did not remain at large for long.
Accompanied by his attorney, Pitcher turned himself in to the authorities the following day. According to investigators, Pitcher claimed that the altercation began because he believed Lee intended to rob him.
Following his surrender, Jason Paul Pitcher was arrested and faced multiple serious charges. He was booked into jail on counts of second-degree murder for the death of Rodney Lee, illegal use of a weapon, and cruelty to animals for the shooting of the dog.
