On a tragic Friday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the life of 68-year-old David Walker Jr. came to a violent end. On the evening of September 8, 2017, Walker was discovered inside his Chevrolet Impala in the 3600 block of Seneca Street, having suffered from what appeared to be fatal gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into Walker's death revealed a chilling connection to a double homicide that had occurred earlier the same day.
Walker's friend, Harold Anthony, and another man, Donovan Cummings, were shot and killed that morning while renovating a home. It was rumored that Walker had witnessed the murders of his friend and the other man. In the hours following those slayings, Walker received a phone call from an individual using a prepaid cellphone, luring him to the Seneca Street location where his life would be taken.
Authorities eventually traced that prepaid cellphone to Terrell Anthony, the brother of the murdered Harold Anthony. It is believed that Terrell Anthony was enraged that Walker denied having any knowledge of the shooting that claimed his brother's life. A confidential informant later confirmed to law enforcement that Walker was lured to Seneca Street and killed by Terrell Anthony and his associates. In October of 2018, Terrell Anthony was arrested and charged with second-degree murder for his role in David Walker's death. He was later released on a $300,000 bond in the fall of 2019, under the conditions of house arrest and GPS ankle monitoring.
Another man, Dexter Collins, was also implicated in Walker's murder. In February 2020, Collins was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the case. However, the charges against him were ultimately dropped due to a lack of evidence. Collins remained in custody on charges related to a separate alleged murder-for-hire plot.
